Children Having Surgery

If you have a child having surgery there are a couple of things that differ from an adult that is having surgery.

Your nurse will discuss special feeding instructions with you during the call before your child's surgery.

Please bring your child's favorite toy, blanket or bottle. This will aid in makeing sure that your child is as comfortable as possible before and after surgery.

Make sure you bring an extra set of clothes. Small children should have an adequate diaper bag.

Be prepared to stay at The Surgery Center until your child is discharged. When the procedure is completed, you will be allowed to accompany your child into the recovery room.

Consider making arrangements for another adult to help you drive home. That way, you can focus on your child and give him or her special attention.
